Question Period: The Musical

Sat Jan 28, 2012 Miss Vicky

A little-known fact about Miss Vicky: she was once a musical theatre geek.

On second thought, that's not particularly surprising, isn't it?

Now my geeky instincts have pretty much transferred to politics, but once in a while there's an opportunity to bring those two parts of Miss Vicky together.

Entre Question Period (The Musical!), one of the more popular offerings at last year's Fringe Festival. They're bringing the show back, just in time for Parliament to come back in session.

The fun takes place at Arts Court theatre on February 4 at 8pm, and the show will benefit local charities The Otesha Project and One World Arts .

From their release:
Voted Fan Favourite at the 2011 Ottawa Fringe Festival, the show that broke audience records is back by popular demand to kick off the first weekend of Winterlude and raise da roof of the House of Commons with slam raps, grunge rock, Broadway numbers, subliminal social messaging, and even a classic rock love song to the GST.

Join us and follow the adventures of the hippest new MP as he navigates the cynical and hopeful sides of federal politics in a non-partisan and light-hearted romp.

Sounds good, eh? There's even a Hintonburg connection in director Darrell Harvey.

Tix are $20, available for purchase in person at the Arts Court box office (2 Daly Ave) or by calling 613-564-7240.

Saturday night's show is SOLD OUT, so we've added a 2:30 preview matinee - all proceeds still going to One World Arts and Otesha. Tickets have been going quickly for that one too, so I recommend buying in advance to avoid disappointment.
