This weekend along Wellington

Fri Sep 16, 2005 Miss Vicky

Lots to do this weekend! Here's your Kitchissippi roundup:

September 17 & 18: Last chance to check out the West End Studio Tour!

September 17 - Parkdale Market Harvest Festival.
12-3pm in the park behind the Market: games and activites for kids, Apple Pie and Cookie baking contest (bakers bring your entry to the table by 12:30), and more!
Evening: Carleton Street Dance

While you're there, take a stroll westward down Wellington for the West Wellington Business Association's Harvest Arts Festival. The've got all kinds of stuff lined up - music, buskers, food, readings and so on.

Between the studio tour and the two Harvest Festivals, Saturday is a perfect day for the Wellington Shuffle.

September 18: learn about our 'hood on the Hintonburg Heritage Walk. Meet at St. Francoise-d'Assise Parish Church (Wellington at Fairmont) at 2pm. Tour is $5 for members of Heritage Ottawa; $10 for non-members.

Sounds good but (for midday, at least) I'm off downtown for the Ladyfest "Not Your Mother's" craft sale. :o)

If it weren't for the fact that it would involve abandoning amckay to the wolves.. er, *children*.. I'd be heading down Sunday as well to check out the Red Tent Collective.

Yes, some of the Ladyfest workshops look pretty interesting. And where else can you get yourself a knitted iPod holder?

LOL! Now if only I had an iPod!

I'm somewhat intrigued with the whole festival concept and think I may volunteer next year. This is the first year I'd heard of it and it was through a friend who's working on a FAM workshop for Planned Parenthood on Saturday. I want to find out more about how to get space at the craft sale.

I wouldn't mind you leaving me on sunday as well except that we already agreed it's brew day ;-)

Grrrr ...

Clearly there's a story here.....

Unfortunately yesterday was pretty soggy - most of the Market stuff was rained out. The folks on Wellington persevered - Ray's reptile show was a popular attraction, but by the late afternoon, people were just hopping from one dry spot to the next. More later....

Yeah.

I bought those 4/$10 10lb mix-match bags of carrots/onion/beet/potato at the MArket. I got one of onion and 3 of carrots.

Let's just say that's a helluva lot of carrots! ;o)

The Webgeek Sep 20, 2005 01:34 PM said:

so what, exactly, does one do with 3 bushels of carrots?

amckay Sep 20, 2005 01:50 PM said:

Can them, of course! 1.6 bushels down, 1.4 to go!

HINT: the Webgeek really likes carrot cake.

Hey there! I know this is somewhat off topic but I was wondering which blog platform are you using for this site? I'm getting sick and tired of Wordpress because I've had issues with hackers and I'm looking at options for another platform. I would be awesome if you could point me in the direction of a good platform.
