Time to get serious

Well, how about that.  A blink of an eye and the summer is gone. 

For the folks running in October’s municipal election, it's meant weeks of planning, door knocking, phone calls, community events and conversations.

Candidates had until August 12 to register (or withdraw) – and now most of the races are contested. 

Signs go up later this week.

Debates, town halls and meet and greets are being organized.

Things are getting serious.

So it’s time for voters to get serious too.  Time to get to know the candidates a bit better, compare the platforms, and think about who we want to support.

If we have made our choices, now’s the time to get more involved.

If you’ve got some time, campaigns need a lot of help reaching as many voters as possible.  There are a lot of doors to knock and calls to make – especially for mayoral campaigns.

If you’ve got the means, throw them a donation so they can print signs, flyers, take out ads, hire campaign staff, rent offices, send e-blasts, buy pizza for volunteers… every little bit helps!

Donations are not tax deductible but the city does offer a rebate program.
